Nokia has just announced that they will be returning to the smartphone market come next year, despite repeatedly denying that they will be making a comeback.
Brand CEO Rajeev Suri states that they will be finding suitable partners to help produce the devices and they will be using the same strategy that they used for their N1 tablet to get back into the market. Basically what they will be doing is they will design the new products but won’t actually be making the products themselves despite having their branding.
Given the reputation Nokia has, it shouldn’t be too difficult to get people interested in their products again but they have their hands tied till the second half of next year due to contracts with Microsoft.
Also since the N1 tablet is running on Android it’s fairly likely that the new devices will be running the same platform, so it would be quite interesting to see what Nokia will be cooking up next.
