Is someone selling you a genuine OPPO Smart Phone? Here’s how to check

As reported earlier, there’s a growing number of fake OPPO smart phones in the Malaysian market. OPPO is aware of the situation and they had even released a guide on how to spot a fake N3 smart phone.

The sale of fake products would obviously harm their brand as unsuspecting victims would experience sub-par quality compared the real deal. To step up its campaign against cheap fakes, OPPO Malaysia has introduced an online IMEI checking tool for users to verify their smart phone purchase.

An IMEI is a unique number which is assigned to each mobile device, or you can think of it as an universal serial number. To access it, you can either dial *#06# or you can get it from the label that’s printed on the box or underneath its removable back cover. Once you’ve obtained the IMEI number, just key it in over here and it will verify if it is an official set along with its model number and full specification.

If you suspect someone is selling you a fake OPPO smart phone, you can now check on the spot before parting away with your hard earned cash. As always, do buy your smart phones from authorised dealers. If the deal is too good to be true, then it probably is. For more info, head over to OPPO’s IMEI checker.
