During Ramadan, the Muslim community will be observing a month of fasting before Hari Raya. At the end of the working day, Uber wants you to head home safe for Iftar and they are giving free rides from now until 30th June. This is valid for trips between 4PM and 9PM, with a maximum value of RM25 per ride.

To activate, just enter the promo code “MYUBERRAMADAN” into your Uber App and you’re good to go. Instead of being stuck in traffic or battling the crowd at a busy train station, you can leave the driving to Uber and enjoy the ride home in a safe and clean vehicle.

If you haven’t tried Uber yet, it is a mobile platform where it connects you to the nearest driver. During registration, you would need to key in a debit or credit card since Uber is a cashless system. So after each ride, you can just hop off and the trip will be automatically charged to your card. So no more fumbling over small change and Uber will also email you an official receipt with complete breakdown of your trip.

In terms of vehicles, there are 3 categories in KL – UberLUX, UberBlack and UberX. UberLUX is their most premium offering with luxury sedans such as Mercedes Benz S-Class, Jaguar XJ and BMW 7 series, while UberBlack offers large sedans including Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Toyota Alphard and Nissan Teana. UberX is their most affordable offering which could be cheaper than your budget taxis. This covers a wide range of vehicles from Perodua Myvis, Toyota Vios, Honda City and various mid-sized sedans. For a better idea of taking an Uber, you can read our review of Uber Black over here.

Below are the current rates for each respective category:

UberX
Base Fare: RM2
Running rate: RM0.35/min + RM0.70/KM
Minimum Fare: RM2

UberBlack
Base Fare: RM3
Running rate: RM0.50/min + RM1.40/KM
Minimum Fare: RM5

UberLUX

Don’t have Uber yet? You can download the app which is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. For those who are fasting, we wish you a blessed Ramadan.
