P1, which was famous for its bold Potong campaign has kicked off its new “Ready to P1ay” offering. The 4G WiMAX telco says they have made improvements to its network and the campaign signifies its confidence to take on new subscribers. This is made possible with its backing by TM and SK Telekom.

With the new promotion, new customers can sign up with P1 Broadband with RM0 upfront payment and RM0 first month subscription fee. This gets you connected without paying anything until your first bill.

For Home users, you get a choice of 3 plans ranging from as low as RM51.94/month for 5GB of data at 1Mbps. For those seeking for unlimited connectivity, it is offered at RM104.94/month for 1Mbps and RM157.94/month for 2Mbps. Do take note that it is stated under its T&Cs that speeds will be throttled once you’ve used up 100GB. P1 is bundling the Home DX230 modem router for free on rental basis.

P1 also offers a mobile MiFi option for those on the move. It gets the same plan offering but costs an extra RM10.60/month across all 3 options.

While you pay nothing during sign up, there’s still an activation fee of RM106 and the registration fee of RM53 still applies, which will be charged on the first bill. All plans for both Home and MiFi are tied with 24 months contract and they charge a termination fee of RM200 or RM300 if it is terminated within 12 months of subscribing.

As P1 is trying to win back consumer trust, 24 months contract is a bit too long just to give their newly improved network a try. Since P1 is confident that they are ready to play, perhaps they should consider offering a money back guarantee. Else you gotta be ready to pray that the network performs well for the next 24 months.
