Huawei Watch release for China delayed due to issues with Android Wear

It looks like Huawei’s Watch isn’t going to be getting its China release just yet, as the company has stated that they are going to delay the timepiece’s release due to issues with the Android Wear OS. The device was originally introduced during MWC Barcelona 2015 and preorders have been ongoing since late last month.

Possibly due to Google’s limited availability in China, Huawei has to replace Google Services with its own for the watch to function in their home ground. Other markets like Europe, United Kingdom, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand should still be receiving their timepieces earlier.

To recap, the Huawei Watch is equipped with a 1.4 inch AMOLED screen with a 400 x 400 resolution at 286ppi. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 400 chipset alongside 512MB RAM and the watch will operate with Bluetooth 4.1. The Watch will also come with the usual fitness features inclusive of a heart rate monitor, step counter and additional sensors to keep track of your steps and calorie count, all in a stainless steel frame.

The release has been pushed to September or October for China, with Huawei adding that they are not just fixing the issues with Android Wear but are also optimizing it for the Chinese market. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our hands-on with the Huawei Watch.
