OnePlus 2 not announced today. Could be a price cut for the One.

OnePlus dropped a hint last week that something was coming this Monday but alas its not the OnePlus Two.

The image pretty much suggests a “price cut” or a trip back to the drawing board but it would appear that it’s more of the former rather than the latter, with Maxis slashing prices for plans with the device not too long ago. The new pricing for the device will apparently have the 64GB Sandstone Black model drop down to $298 (about RM 1091) while the 16GB Silk White variant will be repriced at $248 (about RM 908). Whether or not OnePlus is going to make global price cuts for the phone is still yet unknown at this point.

However OnePlus founder Carl Pei stated that the OnePlus 2 will be unveiled only come the third quarter of this year, which again will be available through the invite system which has drawn a lot of ire from their existing fans. The company is going to make more available from the get go fortunately, having learned their lesson from initial sales of the OnePlus One.

As of the moment, leaked specs for the smartphone include a Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 810 mated to 3GB RAM, which is not as huge as the 4GB that the Mi Note Pro or the ASUS Zenfone 2 is packing but it will give mainstream flagships a run for their money. Also, the devices are expected to ship with HydrogenOS for the eastern markets and OxygenOS for western markets.

The current OnePlus One 64GB is currently sold officially in Malaysia at RM1,199 (before GST) and it is exclusive to Maxis, with the MaxisONE plan offering the device starting from RM599 with plan.
