Barely a year since the original ZenWatch made its debut, ASUS has released its new ZenWatch 2 that’s also powered with Android Wear. With newer smart watches putting more emphasis on fashion and style like the Apple Watch, the new ZenWatch now comes with 3 case colours and a choice of 18 different strap and colour combinations. To better suit men and women, the ZenWatch 2 now comes in 2 sizes of either a 22mm or 18mm width strap option.
At the front, it gets a similar AMOLED display that’s protected by a curve 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3. It is also water resistant rated at IP67 which allows it to be submerged under water at about 1 metre for up to 30 minutes. In terms of body colours, the stainless steel body comes in Silver, Gunmetal or Rose Gold colours. For the active lifestyle, the durable rubber strap is available in Blue, Orange, Red and Taupe colours, while the leather strap option comes in Khaki, Brown, Gray, Blue, and Orange. For the ultimate luxury look, the stainless steel link bracelet comes in body matching Silver, Gunmetal or Rose Gold colours. If you need something even more exclusive, ASUS has partner with Swarovski to produce a special leather strap with embossed diamond patterns with a couple of Swarovski crystals.
In terms of usability, the ZenWatch 2 now comes with a digital crown which offers an alternative way to navigate around the watch. In addition, they have also included a magnetic charger which is not only more effortless to rejuice but claims to be faster as well. They have also included a couple of software enhancements such as a new Wellness app, smart companion features and other various integrated ZenUI features that goes well with your ASUS Zenfone smart phone. Without giving specific numbers, ASUS claims that the battery life has been improved over its predecessor. For the larger WI501Q model (22mm width), it even comes with a mobile power bank, which is basically a dock with a built-in battery similar to the Samsung Gear S.
