Microsoft’s Cortana is on its way to iOS and Android

Microsoft‘s Cortana is jumping off the Microsoft exclusive wagon and is heading straight to iOS and Android. This was just revealed in a video as explained by Redmond’s Joe Belfiore and Cortana will be presented as a “phone companion app” to be some serious competition for Apple’s Siri and Google Now.

From the video, it looks like Cortana will function exactly the same for iOS and Android users as it does for Windows Phone users, but with some slightly limitations considering it functions as a standalone app instead of coming stock with the system.

Cortana will of course let you make queries and will give you location based reminders that will happen at set times of day. The app will also make interacting with Microsoft’s other mobile apps such as OneDrive easier as well. To top it off, Cortana will also be arriving on Windows 10 platforms which will really make the app accessible from pretty much all systems.

We don’t know exactly when Cortana is going to hit the App store or Google Play but there’s a chance the release will be at the same time as the Windows 10 launch later this year.
