Microsoft‘s Cortana is jumping off the Microsoft exclusive wagon and is heading straight to iOS and Android. This was just revealed in a video as explained by Redmond’s Joe Belfiore and Cortana will be presented as a “phone companion app” to be some serious competition for Apple’s Siri and Google Now.
From the video, it looks like Cortana will function exactly the same for iOS and Android users as it does for Windows Phone users, but with some slightly limitations considering it functions as a standalone app instead of coming stock with the system.
We don’t know exactly when Cortana is going to hit the App store or Google Play but there’s a chance the release will be at the same time as the Windows 10 launch later this year.
