SanDisk iXpand: The flash drive for your iPhone and iPad is finally here in Malaysia

Apple has always been reluctant of providing any expandable memory slots for its iPhone and iPad. If you’re stuck with just 16GB of storage, SanDisk’s iXpand flash drive could be the solution that you’ve been looking for and it is finally here in Malaysia.

This is basically a thumbdrive with a full sized USB for your computer and it also comes with a pop-up lightning connector that plugs into your iPhone or iPad. This allows you to backup and transfer your photos and videos out easily.

For a seamless experience, SanDisk has a full featured app that automatically launches the moment you plug it in. You can configure it to automatically sync photos and videos from your camera roll into the flash drive. For long journeys especially when taking flights, you can keep your high definition movies on the iXpand drive and play it directly from your iPad or iPhone. It supports most popular formats so you can start playing them without the hassle of converting.

The drive itself is designed with iPhone users in mind. The lightning connector is flexible and it is long enough so that it still works even if you’re using thick case for your device. On the outside, it gets a durable metal finish for a more upmarket look. It is available at Switch, Machines and Mac Studio, and it is covered with a 2 year limited warranty. The Malaysian retail pricing are as follows:

16GB – RM289
32GB – RM379
64GB – RM549
128GB – RM829
