The Galaxy Tab S2 is Samsung’s upcoming new flagship tablet. After revealing a side shot of the new slate, serial leakster @onleaks has spilled more product renders for our viewing pleasure.

If you’re expecting something similar to the Galaxy S6, you might be in for a disappointment as the renders point towards a Galaxy A series like design.

The tablet you’re seeing here is the 9.7″ version which is likely to come with a 4:3 display aspect ratio that pushes 2048 x 1536 resolution. This is essentially the same as the full sized iPad with Retina Display. On the right, there’s a normal power/volume rocker buttons, and further down there are 2 slots visible that’s likely to house a SIM and microSD slot. The back has a matte looking surface and there’s a camera at the top which surprisingly lacked an LED flash which is present in the current Tab S. Design wise, it doesn’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary except for the unique slanting edges at the back.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S2 is said to be running on a 64-bit Octa-Core Exynos processor with 3GB of RAM and it should come with at least 32GB of storage on-board. In terms of thickness, it is expected to be between 5.5mm and 5.9mm.

According to the source, he stresses that these are not official press images but they are renders based on their informants that are close to the project. It has been a while since we saw a new flagship tablet and probably the best to date is the Nexus 9. With Android phones getting bigger with the rise of phablets, are tablets still relevant to you?
