The Vivo X5Pro to come with Iris scanner

Vivo has dropped another hint as to what their upcoming X5Pro is capable of, recently teasing some of the phone’s specs earlier this week.

The latest teaser popped up on Vivo’s Weibo account, with claims that the Iris scanner is so powerful that it can recognise unique vein patterns on the user’s eyes to be the perfect intelligent security lock for the phone.

Other confirmed features are a Snapdragon 615 processor, 3500mAh battery, a rather unbelievable 32 megapixel front camera with phase detection focus and will be running Funtouch 2.0 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop with 3GB RAM. The Vivo X5Pro will also have a type C USB as well as a fingerprint scanner at the phone’s rear.

It seems a little overkill considering that the phone is already supposed to have a fingerprint scanner on top of the usual security features so could it be just be another marketing gimmick or a seriously useful piece of security tech? we’ll find out soon enough with the launch happening sometime in May.
