Xiaomi Mi 4i gets certified in SIRIM. It’s coming in May

The recently launched Xiaomi Mi 4i is a compelling mid range smart phone that’s expected to be priced below RM800 in Malaysia. During the event, Xiaomi has announced that the Mi 4i will be coming to our shores in May and it looks like they are on track as the device has just passed our Malaysian SIRIM certification with the model number 2015015.

The Mi 4i is seen as an affordable alternative of the Mi 4 flagship and it supports dual-SIM with a wider range of internationally supported 4G LTE bands. It gets a 5″ Full HD display that self optimises for sunny outdoor conditions and in terms of build, it is wrapped in a poly-carbonate body. Under the hood, it gets a 2nd generation Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM and on-board it gets 16GB of storage which unfortunately isn’t expandable.

It also get a 13MP f/2.0 main + 5MP f/1.8 front cameras and keeping the lights on is a 3,120mAh capacity battery which is more than other competing 5″ smart phones in the market. Out of the box, it runs on the latest MIUI 6 with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Being a global device, it supports a wide band of 4G LTE and there’s also dual-SIMs which both are active in 4G. You can read more about the Mi 4i in our announcement post or you can watch the key launch highlights under 15 minutes.

On top of that, it looks like Xiaomi is also bringing two more new devices into Malaysia. The first one is their Mi Note phablet and the second smart phone is surprisingly the Mi 4 which comes with just 3G bands. If we compare this with the latest mid-ranger, the Mi 4 has better specs with a Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and it gets a more premium metal body frame. With the lack of 4G support, is anyone still interested in a 3G only flagship? Even their entry-level Redmi 2 supports 4G LTE.
