BlackBerry hasn’t been having the best of times as of late, with the BlackBerry Leap debuting at MWC 2015 barely causing much of a stir. But now it seems that it has some new phones up it’s sleeves that might just be the thing to breathe some new life into the company.
Of the three devices, we already know about the BlackBerry Slider that is set to be BlackBerry’s curved flagship device, while the other two are a little more mysterious. One of the two is said to be a direct successor to the latest BlackBerry Passport, but both will go by the name Oslo and will sport much of the same specs and very likely looks as well.
The BlackBerry Slider will be featuring a 5.1 inch display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution as well as an octa-core CPU, 16 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front snapper, supported by a very large 3,650 mAh battery. We don’t know how BlackBerry is reproducing the curved effect but it could be an optical illusion like what Oppo pulled off with their
Oppo R7 or a literal curved display like the one on the
Galaxy S6 edge.
As for the Oslo, both smartphones will have the same 1440 x 1440 resolution display as well as a 13 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 3,450 mAh battery as well as a Snapdragon 800 chipset.
The last device is a smartphone bearing the model number P9984, which could very well be another Porsche Design phone. From the image it generally looks the same as the BlackBerry Passport but has that signature colour and QWERTY design that heavily hints towards that.
Aside from the new images, there isn’t much information on specs, availability and pricing but BlackBerry probably isn’t going to keep them to itself for very long.
