Xiaomi continues to tease its new i Global Smart Phone. You can catch the launch live

Xiaomi will be announcing its new Global smart phone with a strong emphasis on “i” all over. This is their first major event that’s held outside of China, marking its significant commitment for international markets.

As we draw closer to its announcement even on 23rd April, Xiaomi has dropped a couple of vague clues of its upcoming smart phone. Without giving specifics, the new model could feature a bigger battery while maining a compact design. Design wise, it also implies a different craftsmanship and appearance despite looking the same.

From what we gathered, the new device could be a Mi 4i which is an international variant of its current Mi 4 compact flagship. In terms of specs, the Mi 4i is spotted with a mid-range Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Display is likely to be a slightly smaller 4.9″ with Full HD resolution. Overall, this looks like a step back from its Mi 4, but if it gets a wider range of 4G LTE bands and a lower price tag, this could be a compelling mid-ranger that’s priced under RM1,000. This is good news for us Malaysians as the Mi 4 lacked 2600MHz LTE support which is widely use here.

To catch the announcement as it happens, the event will be streamed live this Thursday on Mi’s website and it the feed will start at 2PM (India Time), which is 4:30PM in Malaysia. We will be covering the announcement live, so follow us on Twitter & Facebook for the latest updates.
