Huawei’s online-centric sub-brand Honor is turning one very soon and they are kicking off a celebration event at KLCC on 28th April 2015. This marks exactly a year since its cheap and cheerful Honor 3C had made its debut in Malaysia for RM499.
Apart from the celebrations, Huawei is dropping more hints that the Honor 6 Plus is coming to Malaysia soon. The event invite image shown above shows an Honor 6 Plus outline with a double camera lens at the back.
In addition, its likely Honor 6 Plus product page was spotted on Vmall.my but it is currently masked under the name “HonorBokeh”, which is referring to its symmetrical dual-camera technology. Coincidentally, Honor Malaysia’s FB page has been using the #HonorBokeh hashtag in their teasers.
To refresh your memory, the Honor 6 Plus is the phablet brother of their current Honor 6. It has a larger 5.5″ Full HD display and it runs on an upgraded Kirin 925 1.8GHz Octa-Core processor with 3GB of RAM. There’s also a microSD slot which doubles up as a 2nd SIM slot.
The main highlight of course is the rear camera where it gets a dual-8MP set up that’s capable of capturing 13MP photos. Huawei calls it a symmetrial dual camera tech which claims to provide faster focus of 0.1 seconds. Similar to HTC One’s Duo-Camera feature, the Honor 6 Plus is able to take depth of field effects after your picture is taken. For selfies, the front gets a 8MP Sony BSI camera.
With a bigger device, the Honor 6 Plus gets a huge 3,600mAh capacity battery which could provide more than a day’s worth of usage. While the Honor 6 uses plastic flap covers for its ports, the Honor 6 Plus feels more upmarket with flush trays that requires a pin to eject.
In China, the Honor 6 Plus is priced at 2,499 CNY for the Dual-SIM 4G version, which is about RM1,465 when converted directly. At the moment, the 5″ Honor 6 is now priced at RM1,059 inclusive of 6% GST.
All is likely to be revealed at Honor Malaysia’s first anniversary bash on 28th April. To participate, you can sign up for an invite over at VMall.my. Only 30 lucky participants will be invited to the event with RM200 worth of door gifts to be given away.
