UPDATE: OnePlus One will be available on Maxis contract.

After what seems to be a long wait, OnePlus is officially making its way into Malaysia, for real. In a forum post, the they have announced 22nd April as their official Malaysian launch date and you can buy the global OnePlus One units at their official Malaysian site (to be made live very soon).

For loyal OnePlus forum members, they will be giving a special forum-only password where you can redeem an extra token of appreciation when you place your orders. After the launch, they will be organising another fan gathering on 24th of April. More details of the event will be shared within the next few days.

To recap on the specs, the One features a 5.5″ Full HD 1080p display and it runs on a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. The back gets a 13MP Sony IMX214 camera with 6 element f/2.0 lens while selfie shots are handled by its 5MP front camera. While the specs are similar with the OPPO Find 7 (sans Quad HD display), the battery isn’t replaceable but it gets a slightly larger 3,100mAh capacity battery. Overall it is 8.9mm thick and weighs 162 grams. Pricing wise, the 16GB version in Silk White is priced internationally at US$299 while the 64GB in Sandstone Black is priced at US$349. This roughly converts to RM1,100 and RM1,290 respectively before GST.

They didn’t mention how is the sale is going to be done and whether there’s an invite required before hand. Just last month, the OnePlus One had reappeared on SIRIM and was certified under Brightstar. For more info, it is probably best to check on their official Facebook page.

Are you still waiting for the 2014 flagship killer? Mark your calendars for next Wednesday, 22nd April.
