Need a tablet can take up some of your laptop work? Dell has just announced its new Venue 10 7000 Android tablet, which is a full sized version of its wafer thin Venue 8 7000. In terms of design, it gets a rounded hinge that’s similar to Lenovo Yoga 2 Tablet series. While it doesn’t have a flip out kickstand for various modes, the hinge on the Venue 10 7000 lets you attach a backlit keyboard which lets you tilt the tablet screen around up to 180 degrees.
Spec wise, the Venue 10 features a 10.5″ Super AMOLED display that does 2560×1600, which is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Under the hood, it gets an Quad-Core 2.33GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor with 2GB of RAM along with a choice of 16GB or 32GB on-board storage options. At the back, it has a main 8MP shooter and an array of Intel RealSense cameras like its predecessor which more depth information and selective focus after a picture is taken.
While the Venue 8 is the thinnest tablet at 6.0, the larger Venue 10 7000 is slightly thicker at 6.2mm. It houses a 7,000mh capacity battery that’s rated to last about 7 hours and that makes it heavier at 598 grams while its 8.4″ Venue 8 weighs just 305 grams. The Dell Venue 8 7000 is priced at US$499 (about RM1815), putting it head to head with the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro. For a full productivity set up, it will cost US$629 (about RM2,280) with the backlit keyboard. It ain’t cheap and Dell is targeting the device for top level corporate executives. For us, we’ll rather get the Surface 3 that comes with a full fledged Windows 8.1 experience in a portable form factor.
