Microsoft Devices expected to launch its Lumia 430, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL in Malaysia

Microsoft Devices is having a launch event next week where they would unveil a couple of new devices for the Malaysian market. Fresh from MWC 2015, they are likely to introduce its new Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. Its most affordable entry-level Lumia 430 could be making an appearance as well based on the recent sightings in our Malaysian SIRIM database.

The Lumia 640 and 640 XL are quite similar in terms of specs. Both are having a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor that’s mated to 1GB of RAM and has 8GB of expandable storage. What sets both of them apart is the screen size where the Lumia 640 gets a 5″ HD 720p display while the XL has a larger 5.7″ screen that also pushes the same HD 720p resolution.

Apart from the screen size, the cameras are different too. The smaller Lumia 640 gets a 8MP main + 1MP front camera combo, while its bigger XL version packs a 13MP camera at the back and larger 5MP unit for better selfies. Powering both devices is a 2,500mAh battery for the 640 and a phablet category 3,000mAh capacity for the 640 XL.

Meanwhile the Lumia 430 is seen as a tweaked version of its current Lumia 435. It gets a modest 4″ 800×480 display and a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 prcessor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. Imaging is rather low rate with a main 2MP camera and a basic VGA shooter for the front. The only difference with the Lumia 435 is the battery where it gets a smaller 1,500mAh capacity battery.

The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are expected to be priced between RM500-RM900 range. Meanwhile the entry-level Lumia 430 could be priced below RM300, which is their most affordable Windows device. From the looks of it, the 640 XL could come in 2 versions – 3G and 4G LTE which both supports dual-SIMs.
