Micromax is India’s answer to Xiaomi, which is known more for the YU spinoff brand that runs on CyanogenMod.

They generally provide decent specced devices at low prices, and they want to differentiate itself from the rest of the pack by releasing a smartphone straight out of the box with the latest Lollipop built in. The previous YU Yureka is already a challenger to the Redmi Note as a 5.5″ Snapdragon 615 smartphone, and Project Caesar will be taking on the Redmi 2 with double the RAM and storage.

This isn’t the first time Micromax has made fun of Xiaomi, but the teaser image also reveals that their new device will come with a 64-bit chipset and 2GB RAM as well as 16GB storage.

Xiaomi does in fact have a higher specced version of the Redmi 2 but it’s not been released internationally as of yet. Rumours claim that Project Caesar will be launched sometime in April but that’s yet to be confirmed.
