Xiaomi will be having its 5th anniversary on 31st of March. In conjunction with its celebration, Xiaomi will be having a little surprise for its fans with a new product announcement in China.
While there’s no official teasers yet, it is speculated that Xiaomi could be releasing a new mid-range device that’s rumoured with the codename “Ferrari”. It was spotted in benchmarks for having a 4.9″ Full HD display and it runs on an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM. Interestingly it is shown running on a newer Android 5.0.2. If this is real, this could be a more affordable alternative to the current Mi 4 and hopefully it does contain the necessary 4G LTE band to support international markets.
Another possibility is their new entry-level Redmi device which was rumoured to be priced below RM300. According to early speculation, it would share similar internals with the current Redmi 2 but it utilises a different processor to keep the price down.
If Xiaomi intends to make a big surprise, they could be announcing their very first Mi Watch. It was reported that their upcoming smart watch will feature a round watch face with a metal frame. This would probably give the round smart watches like the Moto 360, LG G Watch R, Huawei Watch and LG Urbane some challenge, price wise. At the same time, they are also working towards releasing a sequel for its Mi Band fitness wearable as well.
What do you think Xiaomi would announce next? We’ll find out for sure in a week time from now.
