Brightstar to distribute OnePlus One in Malaysia?

The OnePlus One should have been sold officially in Malaysia by end 2014. After a long frustrating wait, OnePlus had apologised to its loyal fans and had reassured that they are still committed to the Malaysian market.

Part of their solution is to appoint a local partner which would help to kick it off the ground. Now it appears that OnePlus has finally found one as Brightstar had just certified the 2014 flagship killer under SIRIM.

With Brightstar as their official distributor, the OnePlus could be widely available on ground, unless of course they opt to have it sold exclusively online through selected channels. So far there’s no details on its pricing and model availability but looking at our exchange rate, we might see a price increase when it goes on sale. Just couple of days back, OnePlus had officially announced a price increase of 30-50 Euros for the Europe market. Internationally it is priced at US$299 for 16GB (RM1,111) and US$349 (RM1,297) for the 64GB version.

To recap on the specs, the One features a 5.5″ Full HD 1080p display and it runs on a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. The back gets a 13MP Sony IMX214 camera with 6 element f/2.0 lens while selfie shots are handled by its 5MP front camera. While the specs are similar with the OPPO Find 7 (sans Quad HD display), the battery isn’t replaceable but it gets a slightly larger 3,100mAh capacity battery. Overall it is 8.9mm thick and weighs 162 grams. In terms of software, OnePlus promises to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop by this month which is available in both Cynanogen and Oxygen OS versions.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!
