WhatsApp has started rolling out it’s voice calling feature for Android users, but iOS users still have a bit of a wait for the feature to roll out onto their devices, but it won’t be a long one.
By the looks of it, the feature is currently only available on the beta version of the iOS version of WhatsApp (v. 2.11.17.444) so it’s not open to all but it shows what’s to come. The feature also comes with some small changes to the UI and users will see a phone icon besides the contact’s display image.
Tapping the button will pull up the calling screen, which looks similar to the iPhone’s default calling screen and it has a tab that includes a new ‘Recent’ button that shows your calling history. However, once you have voice calling activated you still need someone to call that has already updated the app else it’s not going to work.
The official release shouldn’t be too far off now.
