Seems everyone is trying to tap into the VR market now, following the success of the Oculus Rift ,Sony has debuted a new version of their PlayStation 4 powered virtual reality headset Project Morpheus.
Looking as sleek as a helmet straight out of a sci-fi film, it’s been given quite a few improvements on top of it’s bang up good looks. The new bigger 5.7 inch OLED screen has an improved resolution to a good 1920 x 1080 resolution with double the frame rate of the last unit at 120Hz. The field of view has been given a bump up as well, now at almost 100 degrees as well as lower latency at just under 18 miliseconds. They’ve also included nine LED sensors on the outside which makes it easier for movements to be captured by the corresponding PlayStation 4 camera and adds to the cool glowy-ness of the whole thing.
When will we get it? Sony says that we will see a retail launch in the “first half of 2016” which is not too far off, though they haven’t yet dropped off any hints about pricing or a proper name for the device so it will still be called Project Morpheus for now.
