HTC One M9_Gold_3V-

After heaps of contradicting teasers and leaks, we finally have the HTC One M9 in the flesh.

Turns out the majority of the leaked info about HTC’s latest flagship were actually quite spot on, with very minimal change in terms of design down to the point it looks almost identical to the One M8, which is a little disappointing considering there wasn’t that much innovation in terms of design.

What you’ll be getting is an aluminium unibody with a distinct dual-toned silver and rose gold finish, combined with a 5-inch 1080p display that’s flanked by HTC’s BoomSound speakers on the top and the bottom. There’s a few differences but they’re mostly subtle enough that you won’t spot them at first. The One M9 is a tad bit chubbier than the One M8 at 9.61 mm thick but it is tiny bit lighter than it’s predecessor.

More after the break.

The One M9 does get a series of bumps in terms of hardware, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core under the hood which is attached to a healthy 3GB of RAM as well as Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The battery life has been given an upgrade as well, with a slightly larger 2,840 mAh battery that should last longer with the SD 810’s more efficient power consumption. The smartphone will still be utilizing HTC’s Sense skin so you may or may not notice any difference between the latest Android versions either.

HTC looks to have completely nixed it’s UltraPixel tech from it’s rear camera, instead opting for a conventional 20 megapixel camera with a f/2.2, 27.8mm lens with 4K video recording. The UltraPixel tech has instead migrated to the front facing camera in favour of better and more natural low light shots and selfies alike. There will also be the option of an IP68 water resistant Active Case and Active Headset for those with more active lifestyles.

Everything considered the HTC One M9 does appear to be better than it’s predecessor, even if it does look a bit clone-ish in design.

We don’t have pricing yet but the HTC One M9 will be available from mid-March onwards in single-tone gunmetal grey and single-tone gold on top of the iconic dual-toned version.
