Acer’s new Liquid M220 smartphone is looking pretty budget

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a new Liquid smartphone but we didn’t quite expect it to be a new Windows Phone from Acer.

Dubbed the Acer Liquid M220, the new smartphone looks like another attempt to hit the budget market by the brand, featuring a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of expandable storage via microSD, a 5 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front camera. The specs make the smartphone decidedly low end but at the price they’re going to be selling it for, you can’t exactly complain, as the market is steadily being conquered by cheap Chinese smartphones as well as Acer possibly attempting to face up against Microsoft’s low-end Lumia smartphones despite the latter still having more bang for buck. The Liquid M220 will also be using Windows 10, but how it will fare with such specs is currently anyone’s guess.

The Acer Liquid M220 will be hitting the market at €79 (about RM 320) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa this April with the Acer Liquid Leap+ to be begin sales later this mont.

We are in Barcelona for MWC 2015 so stay tuned for more information as it comes.
