With 3 days to go until Samsung Unpacked 2015, we probably seeing the Samsung Galaxy S6 in its full glory ahead of launch. A set of new photos had emerged which claims to be Samsung’s latest flagship that claims to be taken from partner telco AT&T.
This is the standard version which is expected to be launched alongside an “Edge” version that has been teased excessively for having a curved screen.
If these images are true, the Galaxy S6 does come with a refreshing new design which departs from the typical Samsung Galaxy models of old. Following the footsteps of the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy S6 will be having a unibody metal frame design, which means there’s no removable back covers to tinker with. Both front and back are said to be covered with glass and the metal frame has a smooth rounded edge which reminds of the current Sony Xperia Z3 along with a little hint of the iPhone 6.
The top is very clean with a small centre mounted infrablaster and a secondary microphone. Meanwhile t the bottom, you’ll find micro USB port (which still uses micro USB 2.0), a loud speaker grill, mic and a headphone jack. With the exposed micro USB, the new flagship doesn’t seem to have water/dust resistance like its current Galaxy S5 but this also means it’s easy to charge without having the annoying flap cover.
The power/wake button is located on the right side along with a sim tray slot, while the volume rockers are individually placed on the left. Over at the back, the camera is protruding and next to it is a vertically mounted heart rate sensor. It is speculated that Samsung will retain the same 16MP camera from the Galaxy Note 4 but they would be throwing in a couple software upgrades to make it a stellar performer in low light conditions.
UPDATE: The source has provided more photos and extra details of the device. The Galaxy S6 is said to be running on Android 5.0.2 and the home button’s integrated fingerprint scanner is much improved with a one touch feature like the iPhone’s TouchID. He added that the Galaxy S6 feels solid and the photos doesn’t do justice to the actual device.
