Meizu’s MX5 to feature an insane camera

Rumour has it that Meizu‘s new MX5 smartphone is going to have a 41 megapixel camera.

Granted the claim does sound pretty over the top but similar stunts have been pulled by Nokia before; if you remember the Nokia 808 Pureview and the Lumia 1020.

Similar to the Meizu MX4, the phone is expected to be using a MediaTek processor though we don’t yet know which one, but given that the Meizu MX4 featured a octa-core MT6596, it’s also possible that it could have something similarly powerful under the hood. MediaTek released a newer chip, the MT6795 late last year and it would make sense for Meizu to put this in their new smartphone as it’s a 64-bit octa-core as well as has PowerVR G6200 graphics clocking at 700MHz under the hood.

The Meizu MX5 also looks like it will have a 5.5-inch screen in “2K resolution” as well as rumours pointing towards 4GB of RAM on top of the crazy camera.

Time will tell if the rumours are true or whether or not Meizu has some interesting new tricks up it’s sleeves.
