Would you prefer this HTC One M9 design instead?

Yesterday, a couple of alleged leaked images of the HTC One M9 had surfaced, revealing very little change on its overall design. The same design had appeared in an earlier leak, which more or less confirms the existence of the device. Could it be just another decoy to keep things under wraps until the big day? Maybe.

It was speculated that HTC will be designing its next flagship differently, with a centre positioned front facing camera and a new speaker grill design which is similar to its recently announced Desire EYE. Even serial leakster @evleaks had tweeted a series of HTC One images with the purported new design that’s different.

Based on these new inputs, Phone Designer had reconstructed a HTC One M9 render to give everyone a better visual of what to expect. We must say, the render looks pretty impressive and it does look like a progression over the current HTC One M8.

The biggest change of course is the front of the device, with a cleaner look with the screen dominating more space of the front. This is made possible with a smaller speaker grill that’s placed closer to the edge, similar to the Sony Xperia Z2. The front camera that’s likely to be its Ultra-Pixel unit has been relocated right smack in the middle for a more symmetrical appearance. The rest of the device such as the back and sides are left unchanged from what we’ve seen so far, with the power button now moved from the top to the sides.

We certainly hope that HTC will surprise us with a refresher design and probably alongside with a bigger model. Good news is that we won’t need to wait too long and you can follow us for live updates via Twitter.
