Sony believes you can experience better sound with their premium microSD card

Sony has announced a 64GB microSD card that’s apparently engineered for better sound quality in it’s bid to further corner the ‘high resolution audio’ market. Not too long ago at CES Sony also introduced a $1,200 Walkman and this memory card is likely built to be a companion accessory for it.

We don’t know how exactly a card like this would work but the Japanese electronics giant claims that this audiophile-friendly memory card is quieter than the rest by producing less electrical noise when reading data. The SR-64HXA is a Class 10 microSDXC card of which Sony has already been selling elsewhere for more reasonable prices at lower capacities. Doesn’t seem like anyone else has come up with such a card but if you’re willing to go for standard faire there’s plenty of cheaper cards you could gun for.

The new card will sell at a price of a whopping 18,500 yen (about RM 567) will hit the stores in Japan on March 5th.
