HTC will be going head on with Samsung this coming Sunday as they will reveal its new One flagship smart phone. With less than a week left, any leaks on the One M9 should be pretty close to the final product.
Now the folks from MobileGeeks apparently has gotten hold of what claims to be the official press images of the HTC One M9. It resembles very closely to the initial leaked photos that looked similar to the existing One M8.
The One M9 is shown with a similar HTC One M8 front but the back gets a slight revision with a squarish camera module that protrudes slightly from its all metal body. Also noticeable is the volume rocker and power button that’s now located on the right for better reach with a single hand. In terms of colours, we get to see 2 options – Gunmetal Grey and a Silver version with golden frames. For the coming launch, HTC apparently will be using the tagline: “You only have one life. Show off your style. #onelife”
When the first leaks appeared, some sources denied the strong resemblance to the existing One. Instead it was suggested that it would come with a different design which includes a redesigned speaker grill and a centre mounted front facing Ultrapixel camera. Either HTC is trying to play safe or we are still seeing yet another decoy which is quite unlikely right now.
Spec-wise, the new One M9 is said to retain its 5.0″ Full HD display but runs on a more powerful 2.0GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM. The on-board storage seems to be doubled up to 32GB, which is also expandable via microSD up to 128GB capacity. For imaging, HTC will be swapping its 4MP effective Ultrapixel camera to the front while the main photography works is to be handled by a larger 20MP sensor.
In terms of overall dimensions, the One M9 is said to be slightly thicker at 9.61mm (HTC One M8: 9.4mm) and that’s probably due to a much larger battery capacity of 2,900mAh (HTC One M8: 2,600mAh). Interestingly, they managed to reduced the weight slightly from 160g on the One M8 down to 157.5 grams on the new model. Out of the box, the new One M9 would run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop with the latest Sense 7.0 UI layered on top.
We’ll be heading to Barcelona to cover the HTC event live, so do catch us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates. Is this the real One? We are left with just 6 days until it is officially revealed.
