Xiaomi does creepy durability test with crabs and lobsters

Xiaomi recently uploaded a video on their official Facebook page to demonstrate just how tough the Mi4 is, except that instead of doing drop tests they decided to let a bunch of crabs and lobsters do it.

The video pretty much shows Xiaomi’s staff hitting the market to pickup the necessary live sea-creatures for their test and proceed to let them snap and pinch at the devices after testing out the sharpness of their pincers with various vegetables. The phone does look like it’s standing up to the claws but while it is a pretty cool marketing video it’s not exactly the kind of tests you want to be using to demonstrate the strength of your phones. Especially since there’s live animals involved.

The first two crabs that have a go at the device pretty much leave it unscathed, but then they whip out a lobster which proceeds to destroy some stuff before they end the video with a question whether the Mi4 would survive the lobster too. The video is on both YouTube and Xiaomi’s page, but as it looks like from the comments, people really aren’t happy about the way they decided to do their latest marketing gimmick. This isn’t the first time Xiaomi has tried to destroy the Mi 4 for entertainment.

Check out the videos after the break.
