The Meizu MX4 Pro is going on sale in Malaysia starting tomorrow on 13th February. This 5.5″ phablet is the bigger brother of its current MX4, featuring a higher resolution Quad HD display. In terms of pricing, there will be 2 versions available with the 16GB capacity unit going for RM1,399 while the larger 32GB version is priced at RM1,599. Only the grey colour option would be offered for now. As comparison, the 5.36″ MX4 is priced at RM1,099 for 16GB and RM1,299 for 32GB.
According to the official Malaysian distributor Blue Kor, stocks will be limited and they are trying to rush the MX4 Pro units out ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations that’s happening next week. If you’re interested, they would be revealing its list of participating retailers on their official Facebook page at noon tomorrow.
To recap the specs, the MX4 Pro is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5430 Octa-Core processor (4X Cortex A15 @ 2.0GHz + 4X Cortex A7 @ 1.5GHz), that’s similar to the Galaxy Alpha. It is mated to 3GB of RAM and it also comes with a 20.7MP Sony 1/2.3″ Camera with dual-tone flash and the front gets a 5MP shooter. Powering the device is a 3,350mAh capacity battery and it also supports 4G LTE in both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE standards. In addition, the MX4 Pro comes with a home button which doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.
Out of the box, it runs on its proprietary FlymeOS 4.0 that’s based on Android 4.4 KitKat. A newer version with Lollipop is said to be underway.
