The battle for the title of ‘worlds thinnest smartphone’ seems to be a target goal for Chinese manufacturers apparently.
While most of the bigger players in the field tend to avoid this contest, the Chinese brands have been one after another attempting beat each other. In a recent leak, we see a leak on the Gionee Elife S7 showcasing a surprisingly thin smartphone that’s apparently 4.6mm thick.
Gionee got into the fray with the Elife S5.1 which was just 5.15mm, where it was quickly overtaken by the Oppo R5 which measured in at 4.85mm, and then the Vivo X5 Max which was 4.8mm and most recently the Ivvi K1 Mini at 4.7mm.

The leaked pictures from China show that it does look incredibly thin, and rumour has it that the S7 might just be a placeholder name considering it doesn’t fit into the company’s naming convention for their phones where the number dictates the thickness of the device.
Gionee has already sent out invites for its MWC 2015 launch in March but we have no idea if it will be showcased there and whether or not it will actually be as skinny as they claim.
