Gilded OPPO R5 to go sale on Valentine’s Day

UPDATE: The price of the OPPO R5 Gilded Limited Edition is revealed at RM1,798. RM200 more than the standard OPPO R5.

Want an ultra-slim smart phone with a touch of gold? OPPO’s limited edition Gilded OPPO R5 is scheduled to go on sale this coming Valentine’s Day (14th February).

While it retains the same hardware underneath, the OPPO R5 Gilded Edition has a distinctive brighter colour, which OPPO claims to be more reserved compared to other gilded colours in the market. Compared to its standard silver frame version, the gilded edition requires more stringent processing, making it more unique. Initially shown as a concept during its launch, OPPO has decided to put this into production after receiving enthusiastic response.

To recap on the specs, the OPPO R5 features a 5.2″ Super AMOLED Full HD display, an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. At the moment it is the 2nd thinnest smart phone at 4.85mm and it also packs a 13MP Sony BSI main camera as well as a 5MP front shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 2,000mAh capacity battery which juices up to 75% in 30 minutes with its VOOC Rapid Charging technology. The standard OPPO R5 is currently priced at RM1,598, while the Gilded frame version is priced higher at RM1,798.
