Meizu, the latest Chinese smart phone brand to enter Malaysia is about to release its latest flagship phablet very soon. Its 5.5″ Meizu MX4 Pro with a Quad HD display has just passed SIRIM certification.
The MX4 Pro phablet will go head on with the current flagship phablets like the iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 4 and the recently announced Mi Note Pro. While the exterior remains unchanged from its current MX4, it gets a couple of improvements underneath. The MX4 Pro runs on Samsung’s Exynos 5430 Octa-Core processor (4X Cortex A15 @ 2.0GHz + 4X Cortex A7 @ 1.5GHz), the same that’s powering the Galaxy Alpha and it is mated to 3GB of RAM. Storage wise, you have an option of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacity, which unfortunately isn’t expandable.
It also gets a 20.7MP 1/2.3″ camera with dual-tone LED flash while selfies are taken by its higher 5MP front camera. Keeping the lights on is a 3,350mAh capacity battery which is 250mAh more than its current 5.36″ MX4. For an added touch of security and convenience, it also features a high resolution fingerprint scanner that claims to unlock in just 0.5 seconds. Like the MX4, the MX4 Pro supports dual-band 4G LTE in both FDD and TDD standards. Out of the box, it runs on their propriety Flyme 4.0 OS that’s based on Android 4.4.
On its official Meizu Malaysia Facebook page, the MX4 Pro is expected to go on sale in February for RM1,499 for its 16GB model. During the MX4 launch last month, it was estimated that the 16GB model is priced at about RM1,400, 32GB at RM1,600 and 64GB at RM1,750. At this price, the Meizu MX4 Pro is probably the most affordable smart phone with a Quad HD display (2560×1440). Curious to know how it compare against other phablets?
