After announcing its Galaxy A and Galaxy E series, here comes the Samsung Galaxy J that aims for the entry level low-cost segment. Details of its Galaxy J1 has leaked ahead of its announcement and this could be the most affordable 64-bit smart phone.
From the looks of it, this is a potential replacement of their current RM299 Galaxy V. The Galaxy J1 comes with a 4.3″ display and it runs on a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core Marvell PXA1908 processor that’s mated to 1GB of RAM. You’ll get just 4GB of on-board storage which is expandable using microSD.
Apparently there will be 4 variants available with a choice of either 3G and 4G models that’s available in both single SIM and dual-SIM options. The 4G LTE model will be having a 2MP front facing camera while the 3G model settles for a lower VGA unit. The main camera for all variants is the same with a 5MP main shooter that comes assisted with flash. Powering the device is a 1,850mAh capacity battery which should be decent enough for light usage.
There’s no mention of its display tech but the Galaxy J1 appears to have Ultra Power Saving Mode, while the front camera comes with Palm Selfie mode for single handed selfies. Out of the box, it runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and hopefully it could be upgraded to Lollipop later. It isn’t confirmed yet but the low-cost Galaxy J1 could be announced tomorrow on 14th January as indicated on the screen of its promo images.
