ASUS ZenFone to come with Optical Zoom and 4GB RAM?

UPDATE: ASUS ZenFone 2 and ZenFone Zoom are now officially announced.

CES 2015 is starting very soon where ASUS will be unveiling its next generation ZenFone smart phones. From the teasers we’ve seen so far, ASUS is banging hard on its imaging capabilities which would take low-light photography to the next level.

Ahead of its main event that’s happening at 3AM on 6th January (GMT+8 Malaysian Time), they have also dropped a couple of interesting clues in Morse Code.

In their 2 videos, it included the following codes that are decoded as follows:

— .–. – .. -.-. .- .-.. –.. — — — –
OPTICALZOOM

….- –. -…
4GB

The first clue of having Optical Zoom is definitely a surprise and this looks like a possible challenger to Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. The second item is still a question mark and from the looks of it, this could be the amount of RAM that the new ZenFone is going to offer.

The success of its current ZenFone for 2014 is attributed to its generous package that’s well priced below RM1,000. If the new ZenFone is going to pack an Optical Zoom and 4GB of RAM, this is starting to look like a high-end product.

It is possible that ASUS will be launching a separate smart phone that would take on its high-end rivals. Assuming that we are looking at the clues correctly, this is one interesting smart phone to forward to, but provided if the price is right.
