OnePlus is developing its own ROM which will replace the custom CyanogenMod ROM for international units. This was partly caused by a roadblock in India where Cyanogen has become exclusive to Indian Micromax smart phone brand, prompting OnePlus to develop one of their own.
After calling for name suggestions, the folks at OnePlus is giving its users a new year treat by releasing an early Alpha Build of its new ROM that runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. True to its promise, the experience is very stock like, except for a couple of toggles like on-screen navigation buttons.
If you have a OnePlus One, you can give it a try by downloading the ROM and follow the step by step instructions over here.
Being an Alpha release, it isn’t perfect so do anticipate a couple of bugs and imperfections. Some of the notable issues include unstable WiFi, camera/video app, lower 4K video recording quality, capacitive buttons still function despite being turned off and a slower boot time. Meanwhile, there’s still no news of OnePlus One being officially available in Malaysia.
Take note that you will lose all your files if you proceed, so do perform a full backup before that.
