The YotaPhone 2, which is the sequel of the recently launched YotaPhone is now official in Europe. The 2nd generation device gets a number of new upgrades including a faster Snapdragon 800 processor and a larger 4.7″ e-ink display which is now touch enabled.
Like the current YotaPhone, do expect to pay more than your average smart phone. The new YotaPhone 2 is priced at 555 Pounds/700 Euro which is about RM2,969. As comparison, the first generation YotaPhone was priced at 499 Euro (about RM2117) and it is now available locally at RM1,699.
To recap on the specs, the YotaPhone 2 has a Full HD 5″ display at the front, while the 4.7″ E-ink display at the back does qHD resolution. In the previous YotaPhone, the e-ink display is not touch enabled and it relies on a trackpad underneath to move around. The latest version offers a full touch experience on its e-ink screen. For better durability, both front and back are toughen with Gorilla Glass 3.
To get things going, the YotaPhone 2 runs on a 2.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and has 32GB of on-board storage. The back also gets an 8MP camera which you can take selfies with its YotaMirror mode while the front settles for a 2MP shooter. It also supports 4G LTE and NFC. Powering the device is a 2,500mAh battery which claims to last up to 5 days for reading or 2 days of basic smart phone use.
For now, the YotaPhone 2 is available across 20 countries in Europe and it is said to be coming to Asian markets in the first quarter of 2015. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out our hands-on with the YotaPhone 2 from MWC 2014.
