With the year coming to an end, there’s a lot to look forward to in 2015. Most flagships models would be powered by 64-bit Octa-Core processors that could support more demanding displays up to 4K resolution. To get developers to build apps for these massively powerful devices, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 reference smart phone and tablets will be available for order by mid-December through Intrinsyc.
Mind you that these are Mobile Development Platforms that are meant to give app developers early access to develop apps and optimise them ahead of 2015 flagship releases. For us consumers, this also gives us a glimpse of what to expect in the first half of 2015. For the reference smart phone, it will be using Qualcomm’s new 20nm Snapdragon 810 processor that consists of 4x Cortex A57 cores and 4x Cortex A53 cores with 64-bit support, along with Adreno 430 GPU. On-board it gets a colossal 4GB of LP-DDR4 RAM with 32GB eMMC 5.0 storage.
For its display, the reference phone features a large 6.2″ Quad HD display that does 2560×1600 resolution. It also gets a 13MP OIS Camera supporting 4K videos with dual-flash, while the front gets a 4MP unit that could do 120fps in Full HD. It is juiced up with a decent 3,020mAh battery and it also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 feature. The reference phone also features a lot of mics, 8 of them to be exact (2 analog + 6 digital) and it is also loaded with a UV Sensor and a finger print scanner that’s mounted at the back.
There’s also a tablet version which gets the same processor and RAM but has double the storage at 64GB. The screen however is an epic 10.1″ Ultra HD resolution display (3840 × 2160) which gives a highly dense 436ppi on a tablet. It also gets the same 13MP OIS + 4MP camera set up but the battery boast a larger 7,560mAh capacity that also supports WiPower wireless charging.
The reference Snapdragon 810 smart phone is priced at US$799 while the tablet version is going for US$999.
