Uber, which runs a driver on demand service is now introducing a new level of personalisation with your very own music. They have announced a collaboration with Spotify where you can seamlessly play your music as you enter your ride. The Uber-Spotify feature will start this Friday, 21st November in 10 cities – London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Nashville, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto. Too bad it isn’t available in Malaysia yet.
The Spotify supported rides are rolling out in stages and you’ll know if your designated vehicle is supported when it shows a music bar at the bottom of the app. So you can start listening to music before your car arrives and it should be playing the same song as you enter the car.
During the ride, you are able to change tracks directly from your smart phone. In order for this to work, you’ll need to be a Spotify Premium subscriber that needs to be linked within the Uber app’s Profile page. This is a nice in-car music feature which gives you more choice than your standard radio stations.
