The HTC Desire EYE won’t be the only HTC device that’s coming to Malaysia. It’s Re Camera is heading here too as it gets spotted in our local SIRIM certification database. Re is basically HTC’s answer to the GoPro but it is designed for the regular joe that uses it more for selfies and casual action shots.

The Re Camera was announced last month and it is shaped like a mini periscope for a natural handheld experience. There’s nothing much to mess around as you’ll get a big button at the back while its microUSB charging and microSD slots are placed at the bottom.

The Re Camera uses a 16MP f/2.8 camera from Sony that’s mated to a wide angle lens of 146 degree. Out of the box, the Re Camera is already water resistant at IPX7 and if you plan to submerge it deeper, there’s an additional case to increase its resistant levels to IPX8. It is capable of taking still shots as as well as videos up to Full HD 1080p in 30fps or HD 720p videos up to 120fps.

With a 820mAh battery on board, HTC claims that it could do 1,200 photos or 1 hour 40 minutes worth of videos in a single charge. It connects to your smart phone via Bluetooth and WiFi and it will work on both Android and iOS devices. In the US, the Re Camera is priced at US$199 which is about RM666 with our current exchange rates.
