The ZenWatch is ASUS first smart wearable device that’s powered by Android Wear. If you’re thinking of getting one for your wrist, ASUS Malaysia is expected to bring this to our local market by early 2015.
Announced during IFA 2014, the ZenWatch incorporates some of its Zen design philosophy with the use of stainless steel frame that wraps around its slightly curved display. To withstand day to day abuses, the front display is toughen with Gorilla Glass and it is water resistant as well. For that contemporary look, the ZenWatch comes with a leather strap which is user replaceable to suite your personality.
At the front, the ZenWatch display uses a 1.63″ AMOLED panel that does a resolution of 320×320. Keeping the watch ticking is a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM and there’s also 4GB of storage. In addition, it comes with a 9-axis sensor and bio sensor underneath that’s able to track your heart rate.
On top of the standard Android Wear offering, the ZenWatch comes with additional features to compliment its ZenUI driven smart phones. For example you can use it as a remote shutter button or as a remote camera viewfinder.
In the US, the ZenWatch has been listed on the Google Play Store with a US$199 price tag (about RM666). Hopefully it would be cheaper once it goes on sale here in the next couple of months. You can read more about the ZenWatch in our announcement post.
