Malaysians are getting spoilt for choice when it comes to high-spec smart phones at affordable prices. One of such device is the ASUS PadFone S that’s priced at only RM899. This is probably the cheapest smart phone with a Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor and it supports 4G LTE. The PadFone S isn’t just a regular phone as it allows you to extend your experience onto a bigger screen with its PadFone Station tablet that’s sold separately for RM499.
To recap on the specs, the PadFone S has a 5″ Full HD IPS display and underneath it runs on a 2.3GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) that’s mated to 2GB RAM and has an expandable 16GB storage. Similar to the ASUS ZenFone 6, it has a 13MP camera with PixelMaster technology while the front comes with a 2MP shooter. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with their latest Zen UI skin on top. Powering the device is a rather moderate 2,300mAh battery capacity but if you have the tablet station, you can charge the smart phone instantly while its being docked. It also supports NFC and also Qi Wireless charging.
The PadFone Station tablet comes with a larger 9″ WUXGA display (1920×1200) and this allows you to seamlessly transform your smart phone into a full functional tablet. Mind you that the tablet is a dummy unit and it can’t be used without the PadFone. Considering both combined at RM1,398, this is quite an affordable combo if you’re in the market of buying a smart phone and a new tablet. Another benefit in this convergence experience is that you’ll only need one SIM and have the same session on two different modes.
The PadFone S is available now at IT Centres and authorised ASUS dealers nationwide. Head after the break for the PadFone S promo videos and hands-on photos.
