Last week, Motorola has introduced the Droid Turbo, a new flagship device that’s exclusive to US’s Verizon network. Like previous Motorola Droid smart phones in the past, Motorola will be making an international version of it and it will be called as the Moto Maxx. After almost 2 years of waiting, this is the successor of its former Motorola RAZR Maxx which came with a (previously considered huge) 3,300mAh capacity battery.
Despite dropping its RAZR name, the new Moto Maxx still packs incredible hardware wrapped under durable materials such as kevlar and ballastic nylons. To be on par with the latest flagships in the business, it also gets water resistant nano-coating, an incredible 48 hour battery life and rapid charging which claims to deliver 8 hours of use with a 15 minutes charge.
As seen on the leaked photos, the Motorola Maxx will be running on the latest 2.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and has a 5.2″ Quad HD display (2560×1440) that pushes a highly dense 565 ppi (pixels per inch). It also gets a 21MP main camera that does 4K videos, 64GB of on-board storage and a rather large 3,900mAh capacity battery. Instead of the ring shaped flash that’s found on the current Moto X, it gets twin LED flash with each located on each side of the shooter. Over at the front, unlike the latest Moto E, G and X, the Moto Maxx still uses dedicated capacitive buttons.
The rest of the specs should be similar with its Droid Turbo equivalent, which includes 3GB of RAM, a 2MP front facing camera that does Full HD videos and comes with 4G LTE support as standard. On the Droid Turbo, the Turbo charging feature is said to be able to charge from 0 – 60% in just 30 minutes. That’s quite remarkable considering its battery capacity is larger than the Galaxy Note 4 (3,220mAh) and OPPO’s Find 7 / OPPO N3 (3,000mAh).
The Moto Maxx is expected to be launched very soon in Brazil and it is likely to be made available elsewhere internationally. Seriously we had enough of seeing ultra-thin devices and if the new smart phones are going to use Quad HD displays, we would rather have the extra bulk for longer battery life.
