The latest iPad Air 2 is not only super thin at 6.1mm but it also pack quite a powerhouse inside. While its vital processor and RAM specs are hardly revealed officially, the latest A8X chip is shown to be a triple core processor that’s clocked at 1.5GHz, and mated to 2GB of RAM. This discovery was made from a number of benchmarks including iPhonebenchmarks and GeekBench.
All the while, most of Apple’s recent flagship iPad and iPhones (including the iPhone 6) are running on 64-bit dual-core processors that are mated with 1GB of RAM. The latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is currently powered by Apple’s own A8 chip.
So with an extra core and double the RAM, the iPad Air 2 is definitely more powerful than its iPhone equivalent, up to 55% faster than the iPhone 6. During its official announcement, the iPad Air 2 processor is said to be 40% faster and delivers 2.5X better graphics performance than its previous iPad Air that uses the A7 chip. Even with a faster processor and a smaller form factor, it is still rated for 10 hours of battery life.
