Sony Xperia M2 Aqua now available at RM999

If you’re looking for an affordable 4G LTE device that’s also waterproof, the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is available in Malaysia at RM999. Basically this is the same Xperia M2 underneath but it gets extra IP68 water resistance, which is the same ingress rating as the current Xperia Z3. This lets you submerge the device under 1.5metre of fresh water up to 30 minutes.

At the front, it gets a 4.8″ qHD (960×540) display and it runs on a Quad-Core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and it has 8GB of on-board storage. If you need more storage, there’s also an expandable microSD slot that supports up to 32GB.

For taking underwater shots and videos, the Xperia M2 Aqua gets an 8MP Exmor RS camera with assisted flash and there’s a basic VGA shooter at the front. Powering the device is a decent sized 2,330mAh capacity battery and overall it is 8.6mm thick while weighing 149 grams. Out of the box, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with its usual suite of camera features including HDR, Timeshift burst, Social Live and has other camera apps that are ready to install. In terms of colours, it is available in Black, White and Copper.
