Nexus 6: Top spec Phablet with a Quad HD display

As the Nexus smart phone numbering gets bigger, so does the size. The latest Nexus 6 is a 6″ monster that’s developed together with Motorola and it runs on the very latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. The exterior bears a lot of similarities with the latest Moto X but underneath it gets the ultimate 2.7GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM and it comes with a choice of 32GB or 64GB storage capacities.

The front 5.96″ Quad HD AMOLED display pushes 493 ppi (pixels per inch) and it is toughen with Gorilla Glass 3. Like the latest Moto models, it also gets a front pair of stereo speakers while taking pictures are handled by its 13MP f/2.0 camera that’s enhanced with Optical Image Stabilisation. Illumination for the main camera is provided by a ring shaped twin LED flash that’s also found on the Moto X. Meanwhile the front gets a modest 2MP camera for selfies.

Being a phablet, the battery on the Nexus 6 packs a 3,220mAh capacity unit (similar with the Galaxy Note 4) that promises a full 24 hours of usage. There seems to be a fast charging feature too as it claims to provide 6 hours of use with just 15 minutes of charging time. Like the previous Nexus 5, the battery is non-removable and it lacks a microSD expansion slot.

The Nexus 6 with its high spec internals is quite a buffed up device with an overall 10.06mm thickness and it weighs 184grams. It will be available in 2 colour choices – Midnight Blue and Cloud White. Connectivity wise, there are 2 versions with one for the US and another for the rest of the world but it is good to know that whichever you pick, it does support our local 4G LTE Band 3 and Band 7. Pre-orders shall start in the US by the end of this month with stocks to be available in November.
