Xpax, the prepaid brand under Celcom today has introduced its new “Internet of Xpax” plan, which offers free calls, internet and games on a daily basis. On top of that, its normal voice calls rates are among the lowest from as low as 33 sen for 10 minutes while texting is charged at a block of 20 sen for 5 SMS
The freebies included within the plan are:
FREE Internet – FREE 10 minutes of Internet session up to 3 sessions daily.
FREE Games – FREE 10 games via *118#
FREE Calls – FREE first 10 seconds for all domestic calls within the same network
To activate the free internet, you would need to dial *118# and select “FREE Internet & Games” or you can active by sending IOXNET to 28882. You can activate a maximum of 3 sessions in a day and any subsequent use would be charged at 50sen/50kb, which is equivalent to a very pricey RM10 per MB. For the free games, the available game titles were not shared but you are entitled to get 10 of them daily by dialling *118# and select “Free Internet & Game”.
If you have lots of friends and family members on Celcom/Xpax, you probably won’t need to spend much on short calls as the first 10 seconds is now free. This is only applicable to phone numbers within Celcom’s network. However if you do need to talk longer, its 33 sen for 10 minutes rate is quite a bargain which comes up to 3.3sen per minute. Meanwhile calls to other network are charged at 33 sen for 3 minutes, which is even cheaper than postpaid plans out there at about 11sen per minute.
The free short call offer is quite interesting but only if most of your acquaintance are on the same network. Meanwhile its free 3 bursts of 10 internet minutes is quite short and its time based calculation isn’t practical for those who rely on instant messaging like whatsapp, Line and WeChat for the whole day.
However if you do wish to go online on a long term basis, you can easily add on an internet plan ranging from RM2 per day (100MB) to RM58 per month for a whooping 4GB data quota. You can get more details of the Xpax internet add-on plans here.
Existing Xpax customers can switch to the new IOX (Internet of Xpax) plan by sending “MIG XPAX” to 28882. A switching fee of RM5 would be charged upon migration.
